When someone comes to see me about quitting a habit, wether that be smoking, vaping, gambling, late-night scrolling, porn, whatever it may be, the conversation never really begins with how to stop. It begins with questions. This is because the right questions can begin to shift everything.
We all have habits that once served a purpose. Maybe they soothed anxiety, filled boredom, or gave comfort during stressful times. Over time though, what once helped starts to harm and yet, we keep repeating it. The mind has wired the pattern in so deeply that it feels automatic. The mind thinks that it is doing the right thing for us.
So, before we talk about change, I always begin by helping people think differently.
Here are some questions for you:
What is the size of the problem habit? When did you first notice that this habit started to control you? What do you get from it? [The Habit]
Why choose NOW to quit / change etc? Six months from now, if nothing changes, how does that feel?
Do you believe that you can change? If you could meet the version of yourself who’s already broken free, what would they say to you right now?
Beginning the Journey?
This is where belief starts to take root. Change doesn’t require force it requires faith in yourself and trust in the process.
I often remind clients, What if it’s easier to change than you think? You’ve already changed countless times in your life, you’ve learned, adapted, grown. This is no different. The only difference now is that you have someone guiding you who knows how to work directly with your subconscious mind. When you tap into that inner resource, change becomes natural. You stop battling yourself and start aligning with who you want to be.
Final Thought
If you’ve been wondering whether now’s the right time to quit, then it probably is. The moment you start asking the right questions, your mind begins to find the right answers.
You already hold the power to change. My job is simply to help you unlock it.
